I'm not saying Madonna deserves the comments you're talking about, but it's a bit intellectually dishonest to paint her situation as some kind of "easy mode" for women. As though she's some stunning princess and her getting shit for her appearance is proof that mere mortal women don't stand a chance.

Most women don't have years of botched plastic surgery and a fashion sense that makes her look like someone's grandma slipped into one of Shaq's tracksuits. Madonna is not a normal case.

I wholeheartedly agree that women get a raw deal in society when it comes to their appearance (something that women themselves play a significant role in I might add), but regular women should not be looking at this frankly tragic case of graceless ageing and thinking, "well if she still gets stick, I don't stand a chance!"

I agree with the underlying message of this post, but Madonna is a terrible ambassador for the cause.
